My new Kindle is fast filling up (only 3,458 books to go!), and thanks to Craig Sisterson's reviews in today's Sunday Books section of the Herald on Sunday, I have just downloaded one of his recommendations - Greg Hurwitz's 'You're Next". His other recommendation isn't available in Kindle form yet. I am busy making sure I have enough to read for my next overseas venture.
I also downloaded Stephen Kings' 'On Writing' - which I read a few years ago and thought it was worth a reread, only to read in the Herald today that Sarah Quigley (a NZ author I enjoy) threw her copy of the same book away!
One article I do recommend is 'Creating: Old Story, New Story', in Randy Ingermanson's latest e-zine, Advanced Fiction Writing. What was going on in your character's life when your story started? What was interrupted? And does that old story impact and affect the new story? Great article and it got me thinking about my main character Lonnie and what she was doing and planning before the story I am writing, started.
