One of the real positives that has come out of last year's master's writing class (and there were many) is that the group gelled and we intend to keep meeting monthly for some time yet. Last week's meeting was just the push I needed to keep on track.
A reworked chapter of my book was critiqued and overall, positive feedback with some insightful comments on improvements was given. It is amazing the difference a word makes - would the teenager say someone 'thrust' or 'shoved' a microphone in their face? That depth of discussion of our work is extremely helpful. I always feel invigorated and encouraged after each meeting.
This wekeend - reading over each members' comments on my chapter and re thinking the ending; keeping true to the character and voice is my thing at the moment.
